After several renovations in the past hundred years, the original facades of the store premises on the corner of the Ferdinand Bolstraat and the Eerste Jan van der Heijdenstraat had completely disappeared. During the redevelopment of these 19th-century retail premises, spaces were merged and expanded on the basis of archival studies, and the characteristic façade rhythm and formal language were subtly restored, according to a design by Damast Architects.
The pattern of the original stained glass skylights is incorporated in steel facade cassettes and of course implemented in the detail of the door handles. Black steel in combination with structural glazing makes these facades an eyecather. A technical tour de force due to the beautifully curved glass of the store front. The modern design adds a new layer of time to the streetscape.
